The city’s early history is marked by a variety of religious traditions. It was named county seat in 1880 and quickly expanded. The city was a transportation hub for the region. The Santa Fe Railroad and the Kansas City, Mexico and Orient Railway came to the city in the early 1900s. San Angelo is located in west-central Texas, approximately 200 miles northwest of San Antonio. The city has a temperate climate. The most comfortable months are October and April. The hottest months are July and August.
